School of Statistics

On April 25th, Xie Fuzhan, director of National Bureau of Statistics of China, visited the School of Statistics.

Professor Ji Baocheng, president of Renmin University, and Professor Yuan Wei, vice president of Renmin University, met director Xie cordially. Director Xie has accepted the offer by our School and become the part-time professor. Professor Jin Yongjin, Dean of Statistics School (SS), Professor Wang Xiaojun, Secretary of the Party Committee of SS, Professor Zhang Bo and Professor Gao Minxue, Vice Presidents of the SS, and Song Dawo, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of SS also presented the meeting.

After the meeting, Director Xie gave a lecture, “The Driving Forces and Prospect of China’s Economic Growth”. In the lecture, Director Xie explained how the three main forces—demand, supply and reform—have driven the continuing economic growth in China. He also made a rational forecast of China’s development in the long run considering both advantages and disadvantages of China. The lecture ended in audience’s warm applause.
