Sections

The Section of Economic and Social Statistics (DESS) has been keeping the leading position institutes in the field of economics and social statistics in China since the establishment of Statistics Department of RUC in 1952. It has the authority to confer degrees from bachelor to doctor.

Faculty

There are nine fellows in DESS, with two professors (Zhao Yanyun and Gao Minxue), five associate professors (Jia Junping, Yao Jiaqiu, Jian Ming, Li Jingping and Xuewei), and two lecturers (Zhao Yili and Lv Xiaoling). Five of them got a doctor degree.

Courses

DESS gives a broad spectrum of courses, including System of National Accounting, Research on Economic Statistics, Statistical Analysis on Macro-Economy, Statistical Research on International Competitiveness, Economic and Financial Statistics, Descriptive Statistics, Econometrics and others. These courses enable students to understand principles, research methods, and the latest developments in specialty areas.

Research

In recent years, the fellows of DESS have succeeded in broadening research fields and deepening research methods due to their close collaboration. DESS domestically leads in SNA study, statistical research on macro economy, international competitiveness research, integrated environmental economic accounting and market survey. In recent years, the fellows of DESS has brought out 10 monographs and translation works, and over 30 academic papers. They have assumed many important projects and proposed may valuable advises to governments and businesses.
